about
great oaks institute
For the Work.
For the People Doing It.
Great Oaks Institute offers more than continuing education. We create spaces where clinicians and helping professionals can deepen their craft, engage in meaningful reflection, and build authentic community.
Through thoughtful training, practical learning, and genuine connection, we support the people doing the important, complex, and deeply human work of helping others.
Our Story
Great Oaks Institute grew out of something that has always been at the heart of Great Oaks Therapy Center: a belief that meaningful clinical work requires more than knowledge and technical skill. It requires curiosity, reflection, connection, and a willingness to keep learning.
As Great Oaks grew, so did our commitment to supporting the people doing this work. What began with mentoring graduate interns, supervising emerging therapists, and creating opportunities for professional growth gradually became something bigger. We recognized a need for education that wasn't just informative, but thoughtful, engaging, and genuinely connected to the realities of clinical practice.
Great Oaks Institute was created to extend that experience beyond the walls of our practice.
Today, we bring together clinicians, educators, and helping professionals who believe that learning is an ongoing process, that good questions matter as much as good answers, and that we do our best work when we don't have to do it alone.
Because becoming a thoughtful, capable clinician isn't something we finish. It's something we continue to practice.

Breaking Free From OCD
with the one and only
Rachael DeKoning, LCMFT
OCD is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed, leading to treatments that can unintentionally reinforce symptoms.
In this interactive workshop, Rachael DeKoning draws on eight years of specialized experience to help clinicians confidently treat OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Through demonstrations, experiential exercises, and hands-on practice, participants will learn practical strategies for reducing compulsions, navigating treatment barriers, and helping clients build more flexible, values-driven lives.
